Student Records Information for Parents/Guardians

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students over 18 years of age (eligible students) certain rights with respect to the student's educational records. You can read more about your FERPA rights here.


Directory information may be released to the public unless the parent or eligible student gives written notice to the district that any or all such information should not be made public without prior consent. Any such notice must be given to the guidance director at the district's Student Services Center within two weeks after receiving the handbook or after th student enrolls.

Directory information includes the following:

         name, address and telephone number of the student
         names address and telephone number of the parents
         date and place of birth of the student
         class designation (grade, etc)
         extracurricular participation
         weight and height, if a member of an athletic team
         attendance dates
         awards received

Be aware that directory information is used to compile such things as student telephone directories, athletic programs and yearbooks.
