Elementary opportunities

Summer Xplore
Full-day instructional and recreational program available from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. five days a week for students enrolled at Mesa Public Schools. Children will experience a wide variety of activities, including engineering, science, virtual reality, athletics and more.

  • Program duration: June 1-July 28
  • Grades served: K-6
  • Fees required: $82.50/week with a one-time $12.50 material fee
  • Locations: Franklin at Brimhall, Hermosa Vista, Mesa Center for Success at Jordan, SHARP
  • Transportation: No

School-based programming

  • Program duration: June 1-June 18, Monday to Friday
  • Grades served: K-5
  • Fees required: FREE for all students
  • Locations: All district elementary schools. Please contact your child's school for specific details.
  • Transportation: Yes
  • Meals: Breakfast and lunch FREE for all students

Online learning opportunities
Students may enroll in MDLP summer courses to catch up on learning or for credit advancement. All courses are self-paced with suggested due dates, and require independent learning. All courses are taught by appropriately certified teachers, who answer questions, provide feedback, and support student success throughout the course.

  • Grades served: 5-12
  • Fees required: FREE for enrolled MPS students. Out-of-district student fees are $175 per semester length course.
  • Location: Online

Summer music camp
Classes in band, orchestra, choir, ukulele, music composition and guitar. Students are grouped by ability level based on the number of years experience they have.

Secondary opportunities (7-12)

NEW: Alice's Cooper's Solid Rock Teen Center
FREE creative projects for youth aged 12-20 at the brand new Alice Cooper's Solid Rock Teen Center, 122 N. Country Club Dr., Mesa, AZ 85201.

Senior high summer school classes include driver's education, English, math, physical education, social studies and Spanish.

  • Program duration: June 1-18, June 21-July 9 (no school July 5)
  • Grades served: 9-12
  • Fees required: FREE for enrolled MPS students. Out-of-district student fees range from $175-$225.
  • Location: Dobson High, Red Mountain High
  • Transportation: Limited transportation available for students enrolled in physical education courses.

  • Program duration: June 1-June 18, Monday to Friday

  • Fees required: FREE for all students
