James Patterson grew up in Newburgh, New York.  He began casually writing at age 19.  He graduated from Manhattan College in 1969 and instead of becoming a college professor, he moved to New York to and became a junior copywriter for an advertising agency eventually becoming the CEO to its North American company.  In 1976, while still working for the agency, he published his first novel.

Over the years he has donated millions of books to students and millions of dollars to school libraries across the U.S.  He’s won many awards, founded ReadKiddoRead website and the Patterson Family Foundation has awarded over 7 million dollars in scholarships.  The list just goes on…

January Author of the Month 2017

Ranson Riggs

Ransom likes to tell stories!  Sometimes with words, sometimes with pictures, often with both.  He grew up on a farm on the Eastern shore of Maryland, and also in a little house by the beach in Englewood, Florida.  He started writing stories at a young age, then became obsessed with photography.  Eventually stumbled onto a half broken video camera where he and his friends began making their own movies, starring themselves.  He has been doing all those things ever since…

With a degree in English from Kenyon College in Ohio, then went to film school at USC.  He had a gig as a daily blogger, wrote for a magazine and helped publish a few books.  All that led to an opportunity to write a book about Sherlock Holmes.  Next came Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and so on.

He loves being a novelist, a photo collector, and an occasional short filmmaker.  He lives in LA with his wife, Tahereh Mafi, who is also a writer.  They love to type, travel and drink tea together!
