Welcome to the 2020-21 school year!
I was born in Ohio and grew up in Colorado. In 2013, my family and I moved to Mesa. I have a daughter that attends MCC and a son that attends SHARP. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary/Special Education and my Master of Arts in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Grand Canyon University. I chose to get a Masters degree in Autism Spectrum Disorders because both my children are on the spectrum at various levels and with various other conditions attached. I want to be a resource for students, parents, and families because Autism is not a one-size-fits-all diagnosis and should never be seen that way.
In 2014-2015 school year, I worked as an Instructional Assistant in the reading lab at Lincoln Elementary here in the Mesa district. In the 2015-2016 school year, I performed my student teacher obligations at Taft Elementary. I then worked as a substitute teacher for Mesa until the end of the school year. These assignments included Sousa Elementary, SHARP, Lincoln Elementary, and a long-term assignment at Emerson Elementary. I taught 3rd and 5th SLD at Edison Elementary during the 2016-2017 school year. During the 2017-2018 school year, I taught 2nd-6th SLD at Edison Elementary. I have been teaching the 7/8 Autism class at Summit Academy since 2018.
I am looking forward to another fantastic school year at Summit Academy.
