Student will participate in live synchronous learning with their teacher using the WebEx platform two times per week. Students will be required to attend and participate during their scheduled Live WebEx class. Students/families will need to communicate directly with the teacher if there are extenuating circumstances where attendance can't meet. In addition to the Live WebEx meetings, students will be expected to complete and submit assignments to be graded. Just like during the normal school setting, students will work with teachers and be assigned work that is to be completed and submitted for a grade outside of the scheduled live class time.

IN PERSON LEARNING

PHYSICAL EDUCATION ATTIRE

Students must follow the department dress code which includes:

  • A solid color t-shirt with sleeves (white, gray, black or blue).

  • Athletic shorts (blue, black or gray).

  • Athletic shoes securely tied and socks are required.

  • Warm-ups or sweats are acceptable for cold weather.

  • A swimsuit and towel are required during fitness swim days. Swimming attire must be modest.

  • Tank tops, sleeveless shirts, jean shorts, pajamas and athletic team uniforms are not acceptable.

  •  Please remember that school dress code rules apply. We will be moving around and clothing showing midriffs, cleavage, and underwear is unacceptable.

Warrior Pride is a behavior system designed to promote POSITIVE BEHAVIOR in our classes. In Physical Education, we expect students to show responsibility by dressing for class and participating every day. If students forget their PE clothes then they are expected to borrow and participate in class activities. All PE teachers have developed a procedure for handling students that do not show responsibility. Possible consequences include a warning, MIR, contact parent, and/or referral to administration.

GRADING

  • Participation/dressing out 85%

  • Written quizzes 5%

  • Fitness/Skills/Test 10%.

Students will risk failing the class or losing credit for excessive absences, non-dresses, or not participating regularly in the class. The policy in the girls PE department is if a student comes in after the first day of the semester, without a PE transfer grade, then they will get a zero for all missing participation points/assignments until they are made up. Makeups for class absences are strongly encouraged and are available in the fitness center. Please check with your PE coach on the days and times the fitness center is open and schedule an appointment. A 30 minute workout = 1 day worth of participation points.  Retakes on any written or physical fitness tests are available to all students who wish to earn a higher grade.

PARENTAL EXCUSES/MEDICAL EXCUSES

Parent notes must state the reason for the excuse and be signed and dated. Parent notes will only be accepted for 3 consecutive days. After 3 days a medical note will be necessary. Medical excuses must specify the reason and the number of days the student is to be excused. Students will be expected to dress out even with a note/medical excuse and should report to their teacher before class for an alternative assignment. Students with pre-existing medical conditions are responsible for bringing any needed devices (inhaler, knee brace etc) and expected to participate to the best of their ability.

MAKEUPS

All students are encouraged to take advantage of the make-up program in the Fitness Center.  Students sign in and work out for 30 minutes to make up one absence. You must be dressed appropriately, complete an intense workout, and follow the fitness center rules.  Students will need to set an appointment with their coach before or after school.

LOCK AND LOCKERS

Each student will be issued a private lock and locker from the PE department. (Do not bring your own personal lock).  For the safety of your personal belongings, please keep your locker closed and locked at all times and do not share your combination with others. Locks and lockers are the property of WHS and there will be a $5 charge for any lost locks. Teachers are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.  Any articles remaining in a locker once a student has checked out of school, dropped the class, or at the end of the semester are not the school’s responsibility. Such items may be kept for a short period of time and will then be discarded.

LAPTOPS AND COMPUTERS MUST BE LOCKED IN YOUR INDIVIDUAL LOCKERS DURING CLASS. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR LOCKER UNATTENDED AT ANY TIME WHILE YOUR LOCK/LOCKER IS OPEN. STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING SURE THEIR LOCK IS SECURED BEFORE EXITING THE LOCKER ROOM.

DAILY CLASS PROCEDURES

  • Arrive into the locker room before the bell.

  • Dress out daily in a private shower or in front of your locker. Do not get dressed in the bathroom stalls.
