My name is Mrs. Trujillo, and I am the 9th grade reading teacher at Westwood High School. I know we are going to have a wonderful school year. I am very excited to get to know all of my students, to teach them, to learn from them and hopefully to inspire them to be the very best they can be!
I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I graduated from Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois and was hired immediately by the principal of the school where I student taught. This school was located in the neighborhood where I grew up. I taught first grade my first year but decided that I really enjoyed teaching junior high kids. I taught for five years in Chicago before making the decision to move to Arizona to live close to my parents and raise my children. I have been teaching for 16 years here in Mesa; I have taught grades 7-9 reading for 7 years at Brimhall Junior High, grades 7-8 reading for 3 years at Carson Junior High, grades 7-8 English for 5 years at Shepherd Junior High and this year will be my second year teaching at Westwood!
Also, my family consists of my husband, our oldest son Ricky, our middle son Christian, our youngest son Adrian, and my grandson Anthony. My husband, Rick, is a sales manager for a company that sells manufactured homes and loves to play golf and watch the Chicago Cubs and Bears on T.V. Ricky is 29 years old and joined the United States Marine Corps. right after high school. He has been to Japan, Singapore, Thailand, The Philippines, and Afghanistan while he was in the service but was stationed at Twenty Nine Palms in California. He is now working in the Industrial Tech field and has worked for large companies like Apple, Wells Fargo, and State Farm. My son, Christian, is 20 years old and graduated from Gilbert high school in 2018. This year he will be attending Mesa Community College and will major in business. He eventually wants to attend Arizona State University for his Master’s degree. My youngest son, Adrian, is 8 years old and is in 3rd grade at Wilson Elementary in Mesa. He enjoys playing Fortnite and watching Youtube and says he wants to become a famous Youtuber.
I am very honored to be at Westwood High School! We have and amazing staff and dedicated teachers! I am proud to be a Westwood Warrior!
