Dear Mesa Public Schools community,
As we gear up for a new school year, I’m filled with excitement and deep gratitude to serve as the Superintendent of Mesa Public Schools. I want to thank this incredible community for the warm welcome and share a bit about the journey ahead.
Public education is one of the most powerful engines for opportunity in our country. It is where dreams take root, potential is discovered, and futures are built. In Mesa Public Schools, we are committed to honoring that responsibility for every student - whether they are stepping into a kindergarten classroom for the first time or crossing the stage toward graduation and beyond.
At the heart of our mission is the Mesa Public Schools Promise: Every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career, and community. This promise guides everything we do, ensuring that each child receives the support, challenge, and connection they need to thrive.
This year, we’re focused on three big ideas: learning, belonging, and opportunity. We know students learn best when they feel connected and seen, when instruction is engaging and challenging, and when they have opportunities that align with their interest, abilities and passions. Whether it’s through strong core academics, the arts, athletics, career and technical education, or advanced programs, Mesa Public Schools offers something for every learner.
Our educators and support staff are the heartbeat of our district. Their dedication to students, families, and the broader community is what makes Mesa Public Schools shine. I’ve seen firsthand the care, concern and deep belief in kids that defines our schools - and I can’t wait for more people to see that too.
Public schools are more than buildings - they are the center of our neighborhoods, places where relationships are built and community is nurtured. As we move into this school year, we do so with optimism and unity. We invite our families, business partners, and community members to walk alongside us as we invest in the future - together.
Here’s to a school year filled with growth, connection, and excellence.
With appreciation,
Dr. Matt Strom
