Hello RMRE families!

As we approach the first day of school, I wanted to reach out to all of you with some important information regarding the 2023-24 school year.

Reflecting on the last school year, I am so incredibly proud of our student’s achievements, resilience, and growth. Together with our teachers and families, we have created a nurturing and dynamic learning environment that promotes academic excellence and personal growth. As we look forward to the upcoming year, I am excited about the opportunities and experiences that await our students at our RMRE STEM Institute, an A+ School of Excellence

Please take a moment to read through all the information below and reach out with any questions.

Meet the Teacher:

Please join us for Meet the Teacher on August 1, 2023, from 4:30-5:30 pm. This is an open house format and both doors by the office and the upstairs doors by the cafeteria will be open to access the school. All Preschool through 1st grade classrooms are downstairs and 2nd through 6th grade classrooms are upstairs. Preschool-1st grade families are encouraged to park in the lower parking lot and 2nd-6th grade families are encouraged to park in the upper parking lot.

Teacher Assignments and Supply Lists:

Teacher assignments can be located in the parent portal. School supply lists for kindergarten through sixth grades are attached below. Preschool parents will receive supply lists at Meet the Teacher. Please know that all supply lists are suggested items and are optional for families to provide. We appreciate your support with all donations!

Thinkerspace Donations:

We always appreciate donations from our community and we are so grateful for the continued support of the RMRE families! We are currently in need of the following items for the Thinkerspace:

  • White reams of paper

  • Construction paper, graph paper

  • Glue

  • Expo markers, regular markers

  • Masking tape, scotch tape, duct tape, etc.

  • Tools to be used by an adult to support projects

  • Measuring tools (thermometers, scales, etc.)

All Thinkerspace donations can be dropped off at the front office. Thank you!!

School Start/End Times and Procedures:

Our school hours are 8:15-2:45 (2:40 for kindergarten) M, T, Th, F and 8:15-12:45 (12:40 for kindergarten) on Wednesdays. Students must be in class at 8:15, otherwise, they will be marked tardy. Campus gates and doors open at 8:00 am or 7:55 am for students having breakfast at school. When students arrive between 8:00-8:15, they will go directly to their classrooms or to breakfast. Please do not have students arrive prior to 8:00 or 7:55 for breakfast.

Parking Lot Drop-off and Pick-up:

When dropping off or picking up students, we ask that parents DO NOT exit the car if using the drive-through line. If your child needs help getting in and out of the car, please park in a parking spot and use the crosswalk to come to meet your child and take them back to the car. Student safety is a top priority for us and we thank you for your cooperation.

Student Cell Phones:

Students are welcome to bring personal cell phones or smart watches to campus. We ask that all cell phones and smart watches are turned off and put in backpacks from 8:15-2:45 pm. Please go over this expectation with your child if they plan to bring a cell phone or smartwatch to school each day. If you need to get a message to your child during school hours, please contact the office directly and we will get the message to them.

Parent Council with Dr. Andi Fourlis

Each year, our superintendent, Dr. Fourlis meets with parents to discuss various topics related to Mesa Public Schools. All schools in MPS have one or two parent representatives who attend these meetings. RMRE is in need of one or two parents who would like to represent the RMRE community on the Parent Council with Dr. Fourlis. If you would like to be a representative, please email Principal Bycott at jmbycott@mpsaz.org

Re-enroll your child:

If your student has already attended Mesa Public Schools, and you have not yet re-enrolled your child for the 2023-24 school year, please visit your parent portal to complete the re-enrollment process. If you have any questions, please contact our office at 480-472-7900.

Breakfast and Lunch:

Please take a minute to visit the Food and Nutrition site for detailed information on the prices for breakfast and lunch. Free and reduced meals are available to those families that qualify based on the Federal Eligibility Income Guidelines released by the USDA each school year. Meal applications are available online; paper meal applications are available at school offices, cafeterias, and the Food and Nutrition Department offices at 143 S. Alma School Road, Mesa, Arizona 85210. To fill out an online application, please visit https://www.mpsaz.org/food/mea...

Families are encouraged to submit a school meal application for free or reduced-price meal benefits because this information may be used for other programs, such as Federal and State funding for your school, reduced registration fees for academic tests, free or discounted fees for athletic programs, discounted rates for internet service, and many more.

Safety Protocols:

Safety at RMRE and within our district is our top priority. Here is a list of safety protocols that will be implemented each day at RMRE:

  • All classroom doors will be locked at all times between 8:15-2:45 pm

  • All external doors and gates will be locked at all times between 8:15-2:45 pm

  • Hourly external door checks and gate checks will be conducted between 8:30-2:30 pm daily

  • All visitors will enter through the front office and receive a visitors badge before being buzzed through the double doors

  • Monthly fire drills, multiple lockdown drills, and an evacuation drill will be conducted throughout the year

  • All staff members will wear their staff badges while on campus

If you have any questions regarding the safety protocols at Red Mountain Ranch, please do not hesitate to contact Principal Bycott at 480-472-7903 or via email at jmbycott@mpsaz.org.

If you are new to Red Mountain Ranch, we welcome you to our amazing community! We look forward to seeing all of our RMRE families and students at Meet the Teacher and we are so excited for a fabulous school year.
